What type if dog is good for our family?

Hello. In my family there are five girls aged 4-14. Were looking for a dog that can undergo be "bothered" by little kids and is friendly. We already have some breeds in mind but are looking for more input. As a bonus we need a dog that is not so much a guard dog but a family dog.
